Kingster’s History

Kima International School of Theology (KIST) is located in Western region of Kenya, Vihiga County approximately 35 kilometers from the center of the City of Kisumu on the Luanda-Majengo road, next to the headquarters of Church of God in East Africa (Kenya) at Kima Mission Station.

Kima International School of Theology is an institution of the Church of God in Africa under the management of a Board of Directors representing Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and USA (other international organizations may be represented). The administration of the College is conducted under the leadership of the Principal advised by Senior Administrative Committee.

Christian missionaries from South Africa began working in the Bunyore area of Western Kenya in 1905 and began education on various levels to train church leaders for ministry. In 1922 the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, USA assumed the mission work. In 1954 the Missionary Board of the Church of God and the leaders of the Church of God in East Africa (Kenya) began a residential training institution for the preparation of
church ministers in Kenya. This training institution became known as Kima Theological College (KTC). In 1995 the Church of God in East Africa (Kenya) gave the land of Kima Theological College to a new multi-national Board of Directors to begin Kima International School of Theology (KIST) for the purpose of upgrading the institution to provide quality post-secondary theological education on an international level.

This philosophy is the guiding standard for designing, implementing and evaluating the curricular and co-curricular activities of KIST. It is also the basis for appointment of academic and administrative staff.
