Admissions

Why KIST

Kima International School of Theology offers a three-year diploma in Bible and Theology and one year Certificate in Christian Ministries on full time as well as part time basis; and two Degree programmes; Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology and Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership.

The programmes are designed to prepare qualified men and women to serve as church ministers, Christian education administrators, Christian education teachers or theological educators or administrators in other fields. They emphasize a holistic and contextual approach to the ministry of the Church in Africa.

Requirements for Admission

Bachelors

The minimum requirements for admission into the Bachelor of Arts are:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C+, or its equivalent.
  2. Satisfactory completion of all aspects of the application process, which includes application form, three forms of recommendations, medical report, Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, and written personal testimony on: conversion experience and walk with God, call to ministry and objective for training at KIST.
  3. Diploma programme from Kima International School of Theology – KIST graduates who have been awarded Diploma in Bible and Theology may apply for advanced placement to study for the Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology degree. Such applicants must present a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher from the Diploma. Applicants who satisfy this requirement will be assessed on an
    individual basis according to, but not limited to: year the Diploma was completed, course selection within the Diploma, grades earned in individual courses (grade of C- or lower is not acceptable) and other variables. Individual credits for advanced placement may vary.
  4. Diploma programme from a recognized institution. A recognized institution is
    defined as:
    a) An institution registered, validated, or accredited by [Kenya] Commission for Higher Education (now Commission for University Education);
    b) An institution, registered, validated, or accredited by the regulatory body for higher education of its respective country;
    c) An institution accredited by ACTEA or having Affiliate Status with the same.
  5. Applicants with Diploma programme from a recognized Institution present a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher. Applicants who satisfy this requirement will be assessed on an individual basis according to, but not limited to: year the Diploma was completed, course selection within the Diploma programme, grades earned in individual courses (grade of C- or lower is not acceptable) and other variables. Individual credits for advanced placement may vary.
  6. Applicants with a minimum of 27 years of age, five years of ministry experience, and KCSE mean grade of C, or its equivalent, may be considered for provisional admission into the BA degree programmes.
  7. A national identification card or passport and three passport size photographs.

Diploma

The minimum requirements for admission into the Diploma programmes are:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C or its equivalent.
  2. Satisfactory completion of all aspects of the application process, which includes application form, three forms of recommendations, medical report, Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, and written personal testimony on: conversion experience and walk with God, call to ministry and objective for training at KIST.
  3. Applicants with a minimum of 27 years of age, five years of ministry experience, and KCSE C– Or its equivalent, may be considered for provisional admission into the Diploma programmes.
  4. A national Identification card or passport and three passports size photographs.

Certificate

The minimum requirements for admission into the Certificate programme are:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D+, or its equivalent.
  2. Satisfactory completion of all aspects of the application process, which includes application form, three forms of recommendations, medical report, Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, and written personal testimony on: conversion experience and walk with God, call to ministry and objective for training at KIST.
  3. Applicants with a minimum of 27 years of age, five years of ministry experience, and KCSE D, Or its equivalent, may be considered for provisional admission into the Certificate programmes.
  4. A national identification card or passport and three passports size photographs.

Application Procedure

Application forms are available from the Academic Dean‘s Office and are accepted on an ongoing basis. The application fee must be paid at the time of application. Applicants who have completed post-secondary courses must submit official transcripts from all institutions attended. Registration

Registration of new students takes place at the beginning of September term. Returning students register at the beginning of each term. Both registrations take place during office hours on the designated.
